WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will give users more control over managing their unread messages in the Android version of the app.
As this new feature is currently under development, beta testers registered through the Google Play Beta Program are not likely to have access to it just yet.
The upcoming feature aims to benefit those who receive a high volume of messages and struggle to keep track of conversations. According to WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform is testing a feature that resets the unread message count each time a user opens the app.
Although the feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.11.13, it is currently inactive. Beta users may not find this feature even after installing the latest beta build.
A screenshot shared by WABetaInfo reveals that a new Settings option has been added under Notifications. Currently, under the Light option, users can see two settings: one to enable previews of notifications and another to show notifications for reactions.
Additional Insights:
- User Experience Enhancement: This feature is aimed at improving user experience by making it easier to manage unread messages.
- Future Updates: As WhatsApp continues to innovate and enhance its platform, users can expect more features designed to simplify and streamline communication.
- Community Feedback: WhatsApp often relies on feedback from its community of beta testers to refine new features before they are rolled out to the general public.
Stay tuned for more updates as WhatsApp continues to develop and test new functionalities to enhance user experience.
